Wogau, Dr. Karl von
born 18th July 1941 in Freiburg (Germany)
 Studies in Law and Economics in Freiburg, Munich and Bonn.
Doctorate on the constitutional history of Vorderösterreich. Diploma Insead. 1971 - 1984 Manager at Sandoz Ltd. in Basel. Since 1984 partner
in the law firm Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner in Freiburg.
Member of the European Parliament from 1979-2009. In
1984 author of the parliamentary report launching the Internal Market Programme.
1994-1999 Chairman of the European Parliament´s
Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and Industrial Policy. Spokesman for
the European Parliament at the Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the European
Parliament on 2 May 1998 concerning the introduction of the Euro.
2004-2009 Chairman of the Subcommittee in
the European Parliament on Security and Defence. Substitute Member in the
Committee on Foreign Affairs; Member in the Delegation for relations with NATO.
Member of the Special Committee of the European Parliament regarding access to sensitive
information on European Security and Defence issues.
